Your Role and Impact


Our Accounting Team is searching for a Staff Accountant to help perform real estate accounting duties for residential and commercial properties including but not limited to maintenance and analysis of accounting records; preparing monthly financial reports and cash flow projections and other reports as required by management or owners.


Your Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Financial and Reporting – You will prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements and owner/lender property management reports and coordinate with property operations to review annual budgets and property financial statements to ensure they are correct and in conformity with GAAP. You will also prepare property level loan compliance reports and annual Business Property Statements while inputting financial assumptions and cost line items for the budget model including debt service, property taxes and property insurance.
  • General Accounting Responsibilities  – You will be here to provide support to our Prometheans. You will help our property management teams research variances and perform general ledger account reconciliations. You help review Trial Balances to ensure that all activity is properly classified in the property level general ledgers and reconcile Accounting Month End Reports for validity and accuracy against the General Ledger.
  • Audit and Tax - You will prepare year-end tax schedules and supporting work papers and assist the Tax Department in the annual fixed asset capitalization process. You will provide quarterly and year-end tax projections for assigned properties and provide documentation and support for the tax work papers preparer and review and confirm the accuracy and completeness of the tax work papers. You also help prepare audit schedules and coordinate with auditor towards the completion of the audit report.

  • Your Experience - This is considered an entry-level accounting role, so new college grads are welcome to apply! Although you may never have worked as an Accountant before, general accounting principles are nothing new to you. You can already work your away around a general ledger and understand proceses like month-end close, account reconciliations, preparing balance sheets and income statements.

Essential Functions

Here’s a few other things that will keep you busy:


Department Collaboration - Promptly respond to requests for information from other departments within the company and follow through to ensure resolution; Maintains regular contact and builds solid working relationships with Property Managers and  Accounting Team to ensure high level of customer service


Other Responsibilities - Prepare monthly debt service and various wire transfer requests in a timely fashion; Prepare quarterly and annual loan debt compliance package; Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure that all bank reconciling items such as NSFs and deposit corrections are resolved within 30 days; Deliver client packages that are complete and accurate with minimal revision from supervisor; Monitor the accounting of debt service activity including impounds and replacement reserve requests; Maintain amortization and lease commission schedules; Develop basic understanding of the governing documents for all of their assigned properties and partnerships, including partnership agreements, management agreements, loan documents, purchase and sale agreements; Actively participate in departmental training and education programs; Actively participate in staff meetings or special projects as assigned by management;
