OUR MISSION

Prometheus was founded in 1965 to fill a missing space in the apartment industry: quality of design, product and management, with attention to every detail, big and small. Quality drives every element of what we do, from our selection of world class locations, our design decisions, our reinvestments into properties, and our operating strategy. And investing in quality begins with our people. Today, Prometheus is the largest, privately held owner of multi-family properties in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have more than 500 Prometheans and over 12,000 units in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Portland metropolitan areas. We continue to specialize in the acquisition, development and management of high quality residential and commercial properties.

YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT

We are looking for a Design Architect to help coordinate and manage our architectural design activities for existing properties and new development projects. As the Design Architect you will be responsible for providing design support and documentation for major cap-ex renovation projects while collaborating with outside A&E consultants to successfully deliver new development projects that follow our internal brand design and aesthetic standards. Your role will be a constant blend of:

  • Project Management - You will work closely with internal departments to manage internal design requests and the implementation of design solutions within project budgets and timelines. You also will review third party consultant designs and recommend modifications as needed. You own the project specifications, budget projections and management of the design review process.
  • Design Management - Ultimately you will help oversee the quality of design in the drafting process all the way through execution. You will collaborate with internal clients (like our interior design or construction teams) and external consultants assisting with architectural design for new developments. This includes interior architecture, MEP coordination, exterior façade design and construction, and space planning for residential units and common areas.
  • Team Leadership - You will help support and manage our internal design team members, assigning, directing, and reviewing their work. You will help them develop a design that adheres to our standards and brand aesthetic, while providing them with the mentorship and development to grow in their careers.

Clearly, you are asked to do a lot around here, but that’s just what our new Design Architect is looking for. After all, you are the type of person who loves to jump straight into new projects head-first, but can also change gears at a moments notice to keep pace with our every shifting project load. You will be one of our most important "keepers of the brand" that ensures our projects are moving forward, but not until every little detail perfectly fits our vision.

HERE'S MORE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND:

  • Your Experience - You have a minimum of 5-7 years of design experience working with exterior facades, residential units and commercial spaces.
  • Your Portfolio - You can furnish schematic designs and architectural drawings of 5-10 work samples, noting very specifically what you contributed to each project.
  • You’re a Brand Connoisseur - You draw inspiration from world-class hospitality and consumer brands.
  • Your Education - You hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior architecture from an accredited university program.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

We offer a variety of benefits that take compensation well beyond a paycheck. This includes traditional benefits and benefits you might not expect or know about, such as:

  • 100% Paid Benefits (you read that right, Prometheus pays 100% of healthcare, vision, and dental insurance premiums for all Prometheans and their families)
